Day 2 Too many hiccups 6-17-18

This is Kelly journaling for Mark due to poor internet connections.  Day 2 also had some hiccups. I must say, we planned on hiccups, but this is getting crazy! Mark was scheduled to meet up with a fellow cyclist that heard about his ride, early Saturday morning.  He was very excited to ride with someone.  They met up and started to ride but the fellow cyclists brakes were jammed up, so he couldn't ride. Hiccup for the day #1.

Mark eventually headed out on his own, a bit bummed to be alone, but fired up to get riding.  It was a very hot a humid ride and his navigation was sending him through a neighborhood with lots of dead ends, hiccup #2.  If you look at the picture closely, you can see these dead ends.  Not fun when you are trying to ride 98 miles and its extra hot and humid.  He took a break and figured out a better route on his own, and was on his way again.

At about 40 miles in, I got a call from my mom telling me the 5th wheel hitch was broken and she and Addison had to pull over. Luckily no one was hurt and there was no damage to the truck nor the camper (we think we have a name for it but I'll let Mark announce it).  Hiccup #3.  I got ahold of Mark (eventually, I had to call a bunch of times before he was able to get my call).  Luckily I caught him when he was just west of where my mom and Addison were, and he trekked over to meet them.  He got 50 miles in and they spent the rest of the day sorting out how to move forward.

If you want to keep track of his totals, I have calculated that he has ridden 75 miles, in 5 hours and 32 minutes.  Not where we wanted to be on day two, but it is what it is.  By the way, Mark is also fighting a cold!
